15 Reasons To Book With KnittingTours.com
Our knitting tours are designed from the ground up for knitters. They include a combination of expert-led workshops, local crafts, inspiring destinations and time with fellow enthusiasts. Each tour includes immersive knitting sessions, visits with makers and carefully curated cultural experiences, alongside comfortable accommodation, 24/7 support and guaranteed departures. It’s a complete travel experience where knitting, culture, friendship and adventure come together.

If you love knitting, travelling and discovering new places, our knitting tours are designed with you in mind. But what makes a knitting tour different from an ordinary holiday with a few knitting activities added along the way?

Our knitting tours really ARE just that – not general tours with some knitting thrown in!

We build our itineraries around knitting, crafts, local culture and the people who make each destination special. Every scheduled tour includes a minimum of three half-day knitting workshops with renowned knitting experts, as well as demonstrations and visits with local crafters, dyers, weavers and makers whom we think you will find fascinating.

But there is much more to our tours than the knitting. Here are 15 reasons why we think you should join us!

1. Our scheduled tours are guaranteed departures with small groups

That means that even if we have fewer than the maximum of 25 knitters booked, your tour will still go ahead. You can book your flights, arrange your time off work and look forward to your holiday without worrying that you will have to make alternative arrangements at the last minute.

*See the individual tour terms and conditions for full details.

2. We are an experienced and reputable tour operator

We have been in business for more than 25 years, so when you book with us you are booking with an experienced tour operator that knows how to look after its customers.

We are part of the Irish Tourism Group and members of ITOA, ACTA and ASTA. And if you prefer to book through your local travel agent, they can arrange your knitting tour for you too.

3. Our tours are wonderfully well balanced and located

A group of women sit side by side at a long conference table during a knitting workshop, meticulously working on their individual yarn projects with various skeins of wool, mugs, and tools spread out before them.

Of course, knitting and crafts are at the heart of what we do. But we also know that you have travelled a long way to discover a new destination!

Our itineraries combine great knitting workshops and experiences with must-see attractions, culture, history, scenery and local experiences, giving you the chance to really get to know the places we visit.

Add different locations, always adding new cities and places

4. We really care about your experience

We don’t simply run the same tour year after year and assume everything is perfect. We ask our clients for detailed feedback and use what they tell us to continually improve our tours.

And don’t just take our word for it! Have a look at the many independent reviews our customers have left on Trustpilot:

5. We really care about YOU

From the moment you book until you arrive safely home, our team is here to help. You have 24/7 support while you are on tour, and we are always on hand to deal with any little hiccups that might arise along the way.

We also choose our drivers and guides very carefully. They are an important part of the experience and go out of their way to make sure you are well looked after.

6. We have a huge number of returning knitters

One of the biggest compliments we receive is when people come back and travel with us again.

Some of our tours have had repeat customer numbers of more than 50%, and we have many knitters who have joined us for a second, third or even fourth tour.

In fact, some have been so enthusiastic that they have booked their next tour while still on their current one!

We think that says quite a lot about the experience we provide.

7. We reward our returning knitters

Once you’ve travelled with us, we want to welcome you back!

We offer a repeat booking discount on your next tour and on subsequent tours too. Our current repeat customer discount is €100 per person, depending on the currency of your tour.

Just let us know that you have travelled with us before and quote your previous booking reference.

8. Non-knitters are very welcome!

You don’t have to leave your partner or non-knitting friend at home!

We are always happy to welcome non-knitters on our scheduled knitting tours, and we offer them a €200 discount.

Where possible, we will also arrange alternative activities for them while you are enjoying your knitting workshops, so everyone gets to have a great holiday.

9. Our tours create friendships that last long after the tour ends

Three women look back over their shoulders to showcase their intricately hand-knitted lace and textured shawls inside a dining room.

There is something rather special about travelling with a group of people who share your interests.

Our knitters often stay in touch with one another long after they return home. We’ve even had people join us as solo travellers and come back on subsequent tours with three or four friends they met along the way!

Many of our customers tell us that the friendships they make are one of the best things about travelling with us.

10. We give you as much value as possible

We design our tours to give you as much value as possible without compromising on quality.

Check the details of your individual tour, but typically your package will include breakfast every day, along with five or six dinners and three or four lunches.

And importantly, there are no nasty surprises along the way.

You will never suddenly be asked to pay extra for an attraction, venue or site visit that we have told you is included in your tour. If we say it is included, it is included in your package price.

11. Sustainability matters to us

We believe that travel should be responsible, and sustainability is an important part of how we operate.

Many of the knitting instructors, crafters, dyers and weavers we work with have been practising ethical and sustainable methods for years. For many of them, it is simply a way of life – and our tours give you the opportunity to experience that first-hand.

As a company, we have also taken practical steps to reduce our environmental impact. We were among the first to stop producing printed itineraries and have our own sustainability policy.

12. We choose quality accommodation

A good night’s sleep matters!

We primarily use four-star hotels and all rooms have private bathrooms. We carefully select our accommodation and have built strong relationships with our hotel partners to help ensure you have a comfortable stay.

13. Our terms and conditions are clear

Nobody likes thinking about cancelling a holiday but sometimes circumstances change.

We have clear and straightforward terms and conditions, so you know exactly where you stand if you need to cancel or postpone your tour.

We can also facilitate installment payments if you would prefer to spread the cost of your tour.

14. We have great relationships with our suppliers

From our hotels and coach companies to our knitting tutors, local craftspeople and attractions, we work hard to build strong and lasting relationships with our suppliers.

We are known within the industry for being trustworthy, reliable and great to work with.

And that benefits you too. When our suppliers know us, understand our tours and value our relationship, they are invested in making sure that you have a fantastic experience.

15. We are knitters too – and we understand what makes a great knitting tour

Perhaps most importantly, we understand that this isn’t simply a sightseeing holiday where you happen to pick up your needles along the way.

We know how exciting it is to meet a knitting designer or expert whose work you admire, to learn a new technique, discover a local yarn tradition, meet the people who make it, and come home with wonderful memories – and probably a little extra yarn in your suitcase! We put a huge amount of thought into creating tours that combine knitting, learning, friendship, travel, culture and fun.

And that’s what we think makes a great knitting tour.
