Our Shetland Islands tour will start  at the medieval city of Edinburgh, renowned for its vibrancy and history. There will be a panoramic guided coach tour of the city where you will get a chance to see the Old and New Town. While in Edinburgh, there will be a visit to Dovecot Studios and  to Kathy’s Knits where you will meet Lucy Hague a well known pattern designer. After Edinburgh, you will travel towards Aberdeen and where you will get to see The V&A and the RSS Discovery museums which offers a spectacular setting.

On the third day of the tour, you will enjoy your first day on Shetland Islands after an overnight ferry. There will be time to explore Shetland Textile Museum and Shetland Museum and Archive where you will learn all about Shetland life and culture. Over the course of the next number of days there will be knitting workshops with leading Shetland knitwear designers – notably Hazel Tindall where you will learn about the Fair Isle Yokes pattern. There will be a Shetland Lace Class with Elizabeth Johnston and a Shetland Knitting Belt Class with Janette Budge. During the knitting tour of the Shetland Islands, there will also be visit to knitwear attractions such a Jamieson and Smith Wool Brokers, Uradale Farm, Burra Bears, Jamieson’s of Shetland Mill and BAAKA Knitwear.
