Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to 7 Nights of Knit Copenhagen!

On arrival to Copenhagen, meet with your wonderful tour guide.
After a tour introduction, it is time to travel to Sommerfuglen, one of Copenhagen's most famous yarn stores! Discover a wide variety of high-quality yarns, knitting patterns, and accessories. Take your time exploring the extensive selection and be inspired by the colourful displays. You will then be whisked away to another fabulous Danish yarn store to indulge in more Danish yarn shopping!

Return to your hotel for a delightful drinks reception and evening meal before relaxing for the rest of the evening.

Day 2: Knitting Workshop with Karen S Lauger and Yarnicorn Store

This morning, travel the short distance north to the town of Vaerlose and enjoy a workshop with Karen S Lauger of Lykkefanten Designs. Drawing inspiration from her Nordic heritage and a deep appreciation for mathematics, she crafts designs that embody "simple complexity," focusing on singular ideas that evolve into intricate yet accessible patterns. With a portfolio exceeding 100 patterns, Karen has collaborated with both indie dyers and established yarn companies, and her work has been featured in publications like Knitty.com.

Afterwards, head into the town centre for a visit to the Yarnicorn yarn store, a vibrant haven for knitting and crochet enthusiasts. The store offers a diverse selection of yarns from renowned brands such as CaMaRose, Isager Garn, Noro, Ito, Handdyed by Charlotte Spanger, Knitting for Olive, Lang Yarns, Knudegarn, and Lana Grossa. After lunch (included), make your way back to Copenhagen where you can enjoy a free evening to explore.

Day 3: Odense, Hans Christian Andersen Museum and Egeskov Castle and Gardens

This morning we leave Copenhagen behind for a while for a visit to the home of Hans Christian Andersen! Once Upon a Time, Odense was the birthplace of the most famous fairy tale author of all time! Odense is full of charming and characteristic lanes and streets, with brightly coloured cottages and cobblestones.

A visit to Hans Christian Andersen’s House will take you on a mesmerising journey into the writer’s creative universe and his world-famous fairy tales.Delve into the underground wonder as you leave the world at the door and immerse yourself into the fairy tales we know and love so well. Creative architecture brings nature inside and turns what we think we know on its head! On this journey, you will find architecture weaving withinits magical gardens to create an unique experience borne of creative genius. Speaking of weaving, did you know Hans Christian Andersen was an apprentice weaver?

After lunch, step into a world of history, beauty, and enchantment at Egeskov Castle, Denmark's best-preserved Renaissance water castle. Egeskov is more than just a castle; it's a journey through time and a haven of natural splendor. Built in 1554, it is a stunning example of Renaissance architecture. Surrounded by a fabulous moat, you will be greeted with a gllimpse into the opulence of the past. Wander through the grand halls and intricately furnished rooms, where antique furniture, historic paintings, and delicate tapestries tell tales of nobility and heritage across the centuries.
Stroll through Egeskov's award-winning gardens, a living work of art that has evolved over four hundred years. From meticulously manicured hedges and vibrant flower beds to tranquil ponds and whimsical topiaries, the gardens offer a sensory delight for nature lovers. Don't miss the renowned Fuchsia Garden, Herb Garden, and the ancient Maze!
Return to Copenhagen for a relaxing dinner and time to unwind.

Day 4: Malmo and Planet Wool Experience

After breakfast, board your coach and travel to neighbouring Sweden for a visit to Malmo, a city that has a strong textile arts scene – there are weaving studios, design collectives and makerspaces and sustainability/ethical sourcing are highly valued in Malmo’s creative community. Here you will have a smock hat knitting class with Carly Smith. Before opening Planet Wool yarn store in Malmö, Carly lived for many years in the northern part of Sweden where she worked together with the Sami people in spreading information about their culture and traditions. After the workshop it is time for shopping in Planet Wool.

Afterwards, why not enjoy some local sightseeing and shopping in Lilla Torg Square. Since the 1590s, Lilla Torg is a favourite gathering spot for both Malmö locals and visitors. The square features restaurants, specialty shops, offices, hotels, a kindergarten, and residential spaces—demonstrating how a historically rich setting can successfully blend with the dynamic life of a modern city. The evening in yours to enjoy back in Copenhagen.

Day 5: Åsa Tricosa Class and Carlsberg Premium Experience

This morning, take part in a class with Åsa Tricosa, a renowned knitwear designer celebrated for her innovative “Ziggurat” top-down sweater construction, admired worldwide for its seamless elegance. Her modern, minimalist designs have inspired knitters across the globe, making her workshops a rare opportunity to learn directly from a true knitting innovator.

After lunch (included), it’s onto the Home of Carlsberg. In this premium tasting in the old, mythical cellars, you will taste 5 delicious beers from Carlsberg’s many brands mixed with a couple of our most premium brews. We promise you will have a great time in the company of our passionate beer expert and that you will leave a tasty experience richer. Psst, we may have a historical surprise for you as well and enjoy the ages old artefacts on display before saying hello to the Carlsberg Draught Horses – and did we mention you get a free Carlsberg knitting pattern too?!
Enjoy a free night in Copenhagen to enjoy local restaurants, historic bars and cafes. The city comes to life at night with brightly coloured lights reflecting off the waterways, twinkling and vibrant as the city itself.

Day 6: Knitting with Inga Walloe, Canal Tour of Nyhavn and Tivoli Gardens

Today you will partake in a Knitting with Colours workshop with Inga Walloe. Inga is the owner of Sommerfuglen yarn store and is a prominent Danish knitwear designer, author, and yarn brand founder. Her work focuses heavily on contemporary Nordic knitwear design, texture exploration, and specialized fiber cultivation.

After lunch (included), enjoy a leisurely Classic Canal Tour along the narrow canal ways of historic Nyhavn. See world famous landmarks including The Little Mermaid, Amalienborg Palace and the Opera House from the unique water perspective. Make sure cameras are at the ready!

No trip to Copenhagen is complete without a trip to magical Tivoli Gardens! The world’s oldest pleasure gardens and amusement park was an inspiration to Walt Disney. Founded in 1843, there really is something for everyone. Charming architecture, stunning landscaped gardens and antique rides designed to reflect the gardens and buildings around them. You will not be short of dining options either, as Tivoli Gardens is full of restuarants and it’s own food hall.

Once back at your hotel, the evening is free to explore your surrounds or relax and knit!

Day 7: Rosenborg Castle and Yarn! Yarn! Yarn!

This morning we visit 400 year old Rosenborg Castle, resplendent in the heart of Copenhagen. Discover some of the kingdom's greatest treasures include royal art and the nation’s Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia. Among the main attractions is the Great Hall with the coronation thrones and three life-size silver lions standing guard. Intricate wall tapestries commemorate battles between Denmark and Sweden. We then embark on a delightful journey through some of the city's most charming and creative neighbourhoods. Copenhagen, known for its design and craft culture, has numerous shops and boutiques catering to knitting enthusiast and we are visiting two more of them!

Uldstedet is a top yarn store located not far from Nyhavn. Uldstedet offers a wide range of natural fibres and beautiful hand-dyed yarns. Spend time exploring the store and chatting with the Knitting Fairies! They are on hand with tips and tricks!

Knitting for Olive is a family-run business situated in the Østerbro district, known for its boutiques. The store has earned a stellar reputation for its beautiful yarns made from natural fibres and its elegant, modern knitting patterns. All yarns from Knitting for Olive are sustainably sourced, and produced with a focus on ethical practices and environmental responsibility

The rest of the afternoon is free to browse and wander additional yarn stores, take in a museum or relax in a canal side café and watch the boats bobbing on the water. Gather with your companions this evening for a short evening stroll to a nearby restaurant and your Farewell Meal.

Day 8: Time to bid Copenhagen Farewell!

Depart your hotel following breakfast and travel to Copenhagen Airport in time for check-in and some last minute duty free shopping prior to departure.
