Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Edinburgh Castle and Scottish Textiles Showcase

Welcome to Edinburgh! Meet with your group and tour guide in the lobby of your city centre hotel for a brief introduction to your
companions and activities ahead! Enjoy a tour of Edinburgh Castle, resplendent over the Royal Mile and with magnificent views of the Old and New Towns of the capital city.

Staying on the Royal Mile, step into the Scottish Textile Showcase. Here founder Kitty Bruce-Gardyne will
greet you with a glass of something fizzy and introduce you to Scottish textile design and some of the locations
you will be visiting along the way. Continue with a chance for some exclusive shopping! Then head back to your centrally based hotel for your group welcome dinner.

Day 2: Ginger Twist Studio visit and New Lanark Mill World Heritage Site

After breakfast, we visit the fabulous Ginger Twist Studio, home to Ginger’s Hand Dyed Yarns, before we travel to New Lanark Mill Hotel, situated at a unique 18th century mill and UNESCO heritage site.

Explore New Lanark, learning more about its mill and social history -founded in 1786 and later taken over by Robert Owen, an influential social reformer. In Owen's time, over 2,500 people lived and worked at New Lanark, many from the poorhouses of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Owen improved the lives of these workers by introducing previously unheard of social welfare programmes and a school for the children. Today, visitors can see recreated millworkers’ homes, historic functioning machinery and the adjacent ‘Falls of Clyde’ waterfalls as well as the Annie McLeod Experience. For 2027, journey to Glasgow and check into your hotel followed by dinner.

Day 3: Lace Workshop with Samira Hill and Glasgow Sightseeing

After enjoying breakfast, you will head to the gorgeous For the Love of Yarn shop. Here, you will take part in an intricate lace workshop with Samira Hill of Eildon Hills Designs, which will be followed by lunch at Willow Tea Rooms on Buchanan Street.

After which, your guide will take you on a tour of Glasgow, showing you all the areas that make the second capital of Scotland so incredible! Return to your hotel and savour a free evening to unwind or explore at your own pace.

Day 4: Radical Weavers Workshop and visit to The Orry Mill Shop

Leave for Stirling and awaken your inner artisan as you join our Radical Weavers instructors for a creative and intricate weaving workshop on the loom! You choose your yarns and colours and create a piece that is all you under their expert tuition.

Return to Glasgow for a bit of sightseeing and an optional visit to The Orry Mill yarn store. The evening is free for you to make the most of the many pubs, bistros and restaurants in Glasgow or simply relax in your hotel.

Day 5: Loch Lomond and Auchindrain Historic Township with Waulking with Wool Performance

Enjoy a leisurely morning before setting out for a stop at Luss and the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond. We will then continue to the picturesque village of Inveraray, with free time to explore this historic location and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Later, we will meet the group locally known as Sgioba Luaidh Inbhirchluaidh - the Inverclyde Waulking Group at the Historic Township of Auchindrain.

Waulking is a traditional method of finishing newly woven tweed by soaking and rhythmically thumping it to shrink and soften the cloth,
accompanied by lively waulking songs. Following this memorable cultural experience, continue on to the coastal resort town of Oban and check into your hotel for the night, enjoying dinner with your fellow travel companions.

Day 6: Deborah Gray Moebius Cowl Knitting Class and The Caledonian Wool Company

This morning we take part in a Moebius Cowl Knitting Class with Shetland Wool Week instructor and designer Deborah Gray. After lunch in picturesque Fort William, we explore the treasures of the Caledonian Wool Company.

Arrive at your Inverness Hotel in the heart of the Scottish Highlands for a relaxing couple of nights. Enjoy dinner in your hotel this evening.

Day 7: Culloden Battlefield, Highlands Distillery and an afternoon in Inverness

This morning explore the iconic, emotive and atmospheric Culloden Battlefield, filming location for Outlander. Continue to a Highlands distillery for a sensory introduction to the entire process of whisky making and enjoy a wee dram of whisky tasting before you leave!

Return to Inverness for a free afternoon to enjoy the charming local stores and further explore what the Highland Town of Inverness has to offer in the way of culinary delights!

Day 8: Scone Palace and Gardens and Verdant Works

After breakfast and checkout, you will journey on south. En route there will be a short comfort stop before arriving in Perthshire to take a tour of Scone Palace and Gardens, crowning place of the Kings of Scotland. Wewill have lunch before continuing to Dundee

Visit the top-rated Verdant Works Mill, a restored mill telling the history of Dundee’s famous textile industry before checking into your hotel.

Day 9: Gansey Knitting Workshop with Di Gilpin and Balmerino Farm to Yarn Experience

The day begins with a Balmerino Farm to Yarn Experience, where you will enjoy lunch while learning about the journey from fleece to finished yarn. This is followed by a Gansey knitting workshop instructed by Di Gilpin, who opens with a brief presentation on the history of gansey knitting in Scotland, supported by examples oftraditional garments alongside contemporary studio designs

The hands-on workshop explores a variety of gansey patterns, worked either as blanket squares or a long sampler. Later, arrive at your hotel with time to refresh before gathering for a Farewell Dinner.

Day 10: Farewell to Scotland

Enjoy breakfast in your hotel before check out. Say goodbye to new friends and Scotland and take your transfer to Edinburgh Airport and your return flight home.
