10 Night Ireland Knit the Wild Atlantic Way Tour

Your 10 night Knit the Wild Atlantic Way tour begins with with an Irish Folk storytelling by the wonderful Johnny Daly. Enjoy a welcome drink and a pre-dinner talk with Vawn Corrigan, Author of Irish Aran, History, Tradition and Fashion. Also in Dublin, we meet the This is Knit team lead by Lisa Sisk, for a workshop on the Moebius Knitting technique, sweet treats and an eexclusive shopping experience at the number one yarn and knitting store in Dublin! Head west with a tour and tasting of Ireland’s oldest working distillery, Kilbeggan Distillery. We travel firmly into the west of Ireland with a brief stop in Galway before sailing to Inis Mór, the largest of the Aran Islands. Here we enjoy a cultural and traditional knitting and crafts experience with well known knitting instructor – Úna McDonagh. Once back on the mainland, it’s onto the scenic village of Cong, famous for being the filming location of 1952 Oscar-winning movie, The Quiet Man! Enjoy a local walking tour here before journeying onwards to Sligo for lunch and a Dorset Buttons class with Killala Woolcraft. Enjoy a core Aran knitting class, with Irish designer, Edel MacBride, followed by a surprise activity! As we head further North along the Wild Atlantic Way, we visit the fun and ever popular Atlantic Sheep Dogs and take a tour of Studio Donegal (hand-weaving and clothing manufacturing using Donegal Yarns). Journey on and discover the Causeway Coast, Dunluce Castle, stop at the wonderful Bushmills Inn for lunch (included) and then on to the iconic Giant’s Causeway. In Belfast, a visit the charming Mourne Alpacas in the heart of the Mourne Mountains and a trip to Folklore Yarns in the heart of Belfast! As we travel back to Dublin, we stop at The Irish Linen Centre in Lisburn, and  Celtic Cross majesty at Monasterboice, before continuing to County Louth and a spinning and tapestry workshop with Áine Dunne. Participant Feedback

The teachers and workshops were great, especially for an experienced knitter like myself. There was also sightseeing of the beautiful Irish landscapes and towns. And the hotel accommodations were always excellent.

Bernadette Engard
The teachers and workshops were great!

I had a great time on the tour. I enjoyed it so much I would love to do another!
Our guide and driver were both fabulous and I really enjoyed the workshops.
It was the first organised tour I had ever been on and it was better than I expected

Katrina Donnellon

I just finished my first trip to Ireland and it was all and more than I expected. It was so comforting to be met at the airport. I can't express strongly enough what a wonderful guide we had for this trip. The group asked me to share that the tour guide, Jane Horgan, and the driver, John were absolutely perfect. We thank you for giving us the "A" team for the tour.

Mazie Chauvin

What a fantastic tour! Our tour director Jane Horgan was truly a gem! She was friendly, funny, entertaining and thoroughly skilled at keeping our group informed of all details of our tour. I would love to partake in the Southern Ireland tour in perhaps another year or two, particularly if Jane were to be available as our guide once again.

Debra Smith

It was an absolutely wonderful trip! I enjoyed everything we did, especially the Aran Islands. I loved the trip, and I thank Irish Tourism for a fine job.

Linda Summer

Just want to let you know how much I enjoyed the recent Northern Ireland Knitting Tour. I thought it was the perfect combination of knitting workshops and sightseeing. Mary Lavery, our guide, and Bert, our driver, were both helpful and full of information. Not to mention the great group of ladies on the tour. I hope to return for the Southern Tour one day.

Myrna Stephens

It was a fabulous wonderful well-organized trip!! I enjoyed the classes, finished all my projects. The guide and driver were excellent and loads of fun. Food was good, but the portions were a bit too large. As a "techno-idiot" I have no photos to post. It was a great trip and will probably do another, perhaps the southern loop, in the next year or so.

Monica Larson

It was an absolutely PERFECT trip for my friends Jessica Szabo, Amanda Roth, and I - we truly COULD. NOT. BE. more pleased than we are!!! AGAIN - we truly cannot tell you how over the moon happy we all were with this trip - so much so that we were already inquiring about next May's Southern Ireland knitting tour LITERALLY before the wheels of the plane left the ground to depart from Dublin!!!!!

Missy Shumaker

My cousin and I had a wonderful time seeing new sites, meeting friendly people and learning new skills! Thanks to all in your company for putting together such a great time.
