Pauline Gallagher has a lifelong love of knitting sparked by the gift of an unusual but stylish Aran sweater from her Godmother. Pauline turned childhood curiosity into a vibrant, creative career and today, she is the force behind The Knitting Class Dublin. Here she combines technique, tradition and pure joy to students – guiding knitters of all levels toward confident, colourful knitting.
Our Dublin based expert has been teaching classes for over fifteen years, as well as running exclusive workshops and events throughout Ireland. Her passion lies in empowering students by helping them build skills and most importantly, enjoy every stitch. Pauline’s classes are known not only for their expert instruction but also for the strong sense of community they create—many friendships have been formed across her knitting tables.
With a welcoming and adaptable teaching style, Pauline. brings warmth, patience, and a vast knowledge of international knitting styles to every session. Her aim is to help each student find their rhythm, solve their knitting challenges and feel inspired by the knitting journey.
As an instructor for Knitting Tours since 2016, Pauline brings Irish culture and history alive through creative, locally inspired workshops. From wire knitted jewellery inspired by the Tara Brooch to Fair Isle projects celebrating the Donegal tradition, her classes beautifully connect place to project. Pauline’s most popular workshops include Finishing Techniques, which is a transformative experience that often sees students reworking old garments with fresh eyes and refined skills.
Pauline’s most memorable tour moments include behind-the-scenes access to early Aran knitwear at the Museum of Country Life in County Mayo and seeing guests fall in love with authentic Donegal tweed yarns. She designs every workshop project herself and is constantly developing new ideas.
When she’s not teaching, you’ll find Pauline dreaming up future workshops, expanding her creative designs, and planning a book to capture the heart of her unique approach to knitting education.
When you take a class with me I want you to be so inspired that you pick up your needles and implement your new knowledge immediately, if not sooner!
